Everyone raise your welding helmets in celebration – National Manufacturing Day is right around the corner.
This year the special day of recognition for all things manufacturing will be held Oct. 7.
The goal of Manufacturing Day is to raise awareness for a variety of common misperceptions about manufacturing and to provide manufacturers across the country an opportunity to open their doors and showcase what genuine manufacturing is. There are four co-producers of Manufacturing Day: Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International; National Association of Manufacturers; Manufacturing Extension Partnership; and Manufacturing Institute. The annual event is traditionally held on the first Friday of October.
Manufacturing Day is an opportunity for manufacturers to:
- Address the skilled labor shortage
- Connect with future generations of workers
- Influence the public image of manufacturing
Resources are available online for manufacturers interested in hosting a Manufacturing Day event, educating students about the industry, sharing facts about manufacturing’s economic impact and more.
Take part in sharing the Manufacturing Day message on social media with the hashtag #MFGday16.
