The Tru-Edge Difference

Wash Away Imperfections

Pickling removes specific surface defects and contaminants and restores the common corrosion resistance of the stainless steel.

Why Pickling?

In normal atmospheric conditions, ordinary stainless steel will not rust. It's protective layer forms when the steel surface reacts with oxygen.

However, during the manufacturing process, a head may be exposed to acids or other conditions that might interfere with this layer. Pickling removes specific surface contaminants to restore the stainless steel's common corrosion resistance.

The Process

After forming, we completely submerge stainless steel heads in our heated 25-foot pickling tank containing a proprietary solution of nitric acid and ammonium bifluoride. After pickling, we spray the heads with a high-temperature steam cleaner.

The Difference

This pickling process extends the life of the material, assuring the quality of the head and increasing the longevity of your equipment.

In addition to our heads, we offer pickling on a wide variety of end products including half-pipe, coils, and cylinders, and stainless products manufactured elsewhere to meet all of your project specs.
