Hemispherical Heads
Hemispherical Tank Heads
Strength and Resistance
Features
Twice the Pressure Rating Resistance
Hemispherical tank heads can resist about twice the pressure rating of an elliptical dished head or cylindrical shell of the same thickness and diameter.
High-pressure Applications
With a hemispherical head, the pressure in the vessel is divided equally across the surface of the head. This ensures that the vessel can withstand the pressures it is subjected to. Additionally, it helps to distribute the pressure evenly so that no one area is under more strain than another.
Storage Applications
Using two hemispherical heads back to back creates the most efficient shape for pressurized storage.
Materials
Hemispherical tank heads are made from steel, carbon, clad, exotic alloys, and more.
